March 29th, 2010

What better day then today to feature Hunter boots!  It’s an absolute downpour outside but the sunshine this morning tricked most people into leaving their rainboots at home causing them to dash into WE to grab a pair of wellies!

As always Hunters are a staple at Wear Else because you really can’t survive the Vancouver weather without a pair.  This season we introduced the ultimate of all Hunters into our wellington lineup – the ‘Carnaby Boa‘ which was designed in collaboration with Jimmy Choo.  This boot is fully done in a patent snakeskin that will keep you looking as stylish as you possible could in the pouring rain!  It’s also unique enough that you can throw them on with your favorite weekend outfit for running around.  If snakeskin is not your thing we also have the Hunter collection available in the other styles pictured below.

Bright Bling

March 18th, 2010

Everything this season is either super bright or strictly neutral.  When you combine the two looks together you get the best of both worlds.  Top any neutral dress and shoes with this amazing bright jewelry from Dyrberg Kern and you’re sure to make a statement.  WE are loving the look of piling them on together but make sure you stick to the same color palette when doubling up on necklaces.  When it comes to arm candy anything goes – go crazy and mix and match… the more the better!

One of the springs must have trends (which WE president Zahra choose to speak about in her interview with Fashion Magazine) is PRINTS!

Floral, animal, geometric you name it – prints are one of this season’s must have.  Whether its a gorgeous printed tunic over shorts with gladiators to stroll the city or a printed dress to dance the night away – no one does it quite like Rebecca Taylor!  Her spring collection has just arrived in stores and it’s gorgeous.  But don’t take our word for it… see for yourself!

WE always love and support our Canadian designers – but with the Olympics in town our patriotism is in overdrive!  And by the looks of it so is yours as our Virginia Johnson scarves just arrived and are already almost sold out!

Virginia Johnson is a Canadian textile designer whose colorful prints have made her a huge success. Each print begins as a watercolor painting, which is silk screened into fabric. She draws inspiration from her travels and nature particularly birds, water, trees, flowers and animals.

After training at New York’s prestigious Parsons School of Design, Johnson went on to work as an accessories designer for Helmut Lang. In 2002 she launched her own brand of vivid, hand-painted scarves, which are sure to lend a quirky-chic feel to any look – click HERE to see the rest of her collection at WE!

New Arrivals! Bailey 44

February 2nd, 2010

Picture 24 Picture 11 Picture 32

“Sexy, interesting, ageless and wearable” defines this brand.

Started in 2006 by two female fashion industry veterans, the goal was to have a line that was cool and understated, sexy but not overt, modern, relevant, well made, and most importantly, a really great fit.

The designers personally try on every style of each collection, to be involved in all phases of production. This in an important distinction, one that has made all the difference between cookie-cutter clothing and inventive looks that have integrity.

The brand is famous for its fresh use of jersey – and WE have just received the ‘Poker Face’ collection which is in stores now and can be checked out HERE.

Be on the lookout for the other Bailey 44 collections (Woodstock, Soft Core & Tribal Beats) arriving in the upcoming months!
